People from the Philippines changed their profile pictures on Social media like Facebook and Twitter to support against the Philippine Cybercrime Law which will be on effect tomorrow October 3,2012. What is this Cybercrime Law that is being bashed over Social Media? Basically, it says that:
1.) Any negative criticism, cyber bullying and/or inhumane acts will be held under investigation under the PNP(Philippine National Police)
2.) Any profanity or irrelevant statements on social websites (ex. Facebook) will be censored. (Currently what many Filipinos are doing to their profile pictures and posting it on their profiles with a black bar with a small statement of "Comment Blocked, RA 10175")
3.) Copying any status or picture on Facebook or Twitter is good enough for investigation.
4.) Downloading torrents, files from the internet or any unofficial website in your laptop or computer will be traced to the PNP.

The said law has many negative comments on Facebook, Twitter and other social media networks. Will this social media affect the implementation of the republic act? But it will surely affect many Filipinos since internet and social media is a part of our daily lives. Let's see what will happen tomorrow.
